For sale is a rare vintage small, full size workshop Live Steam Engine with some very nice features. Of unknown origin but I would think English and judging by the amount of pitting on the valve and piston rod and the beautifully shaped bearing tops possibly early 1900s. Small full size steam engines are very rare these days. The engine came to me as a pile of very rusty parts and surprisingly all original parts were there, even drain cocks. Commercially made with all mating surfaces machined to perfection. I spent many hours cleaning and putting on a basic coat of paint. The only things I made were new gaskets and a brass oil nut for the valve rod eccentric strap. It runs well on a fairly small Clarke compressor. My guess is that it was probably used as mobile power where needed but the rather beefy water pump may have been its main purpose with power transfer from the small pulley where needed. All mounted on a cast iron bed. Would make a lovely rally exhibit or useful workshop engine. It will also run in reverse with a simple 5min. change in bolt locator on valve eccentric. Appears to be Whitworth threads throughout.
