Sing Seat Austin 7 Race Car. Single seat Austin Seven Race car based on a stressed Aluminium body, Lightweight “A”Frame chassis, bowed transverse light weight front axle, Offset 4.9 Austin 7 rear axle, hydraulic brakes and hydraulic shock absorbers. The wheel rims are 5J X 15 spoked onto Austin 7 centres with “as new” 145/R15 rubber. Suitable for the pre war Austin 7 Sprint and Hillclimb series or the 750mc race series. The engine is based on a 1936 crankcase and block with starter motor and pressure fed
1 1/2 Phoenix crankshaft, fed by a John Barlow oil pump. The block is fully ported with larger inlet valves, lightened tappets, double valve springs and Newman full race camshaft. The cylinder head is a John Barlow, CNC aluminium sandwich construction and fully gas flowed. The current exhaust is a log manifold with two stubs for the twin 1 1/8 Su carburettors. An extractor exhaust with a single 1 1/2 in carburettor is also available. The flywheel is fully lightened with double clutch springs and a lightweight aluminium pressure plate, The clutch is operated from a hydraulic pedal box in the cockpit. (It also has a balance bar for the twin circuit hydraulic A30 brake system). The gearbox is a synchromesh 4 speed a close ratio box modified by changing the ratio to the first motion shaft. I is also fitted with a a remote selector to bring the gear lever into the cockpit. Th Car comes with a Covered Trailer and MSA competition passport dated 19/10/2017.
